100th post!

I couldn't help it, I just posted and saw that I was at my 99th post... I had to make it to 100! Wow, I can't believe I have actually written in this blog/journal for one hundred entries! That pleases me.

My goal in starting this blog was to keep an online journal of my life. It may be sporadic, but at least I have some proof of my thoughts and doings on a regular basis. I love love love to read other people's blogs. I could sit for hours and read crafty decorating blogs all day long. I can't do that because I'm a mommy and a PA. Don't get me wrong, I'm at home right now and it's 8:47pm and I just got done reading the Tom Kat Studio blog to get inspired for Lyla's Birthday!

If you know me, I love themes.
I wish I had more time to create parties, events, and celebrations and I guess I would need endless money to do this.
Anyhow, the theme is.... (drumroll please)
ORANGE & PINK!
Invites made by myself with the help of my crafty Silhouette SD
Her party will be held at her favorite gymnastics location and we will have orange and pink decor. Lyla loves her gymnastics class, she loves her family and friends and loves loves loves cake and ice-cream! I think it will be a blast!

I hope to make some cookie pops via the tutorial I just read at Sweetopia and also package up my favors for the little munchkins soon. Time to stop reading and start CRAFTING!

Can't wait to run around with my little on!
There is always reason to celebrate!
Cheers!

Everyone Poops!

I have been taking Lyla to swim lessons on Mondays. I try to be the "ideal" mom and do all of the FUN things with Lyla. Before I had Lyla I used to daydream about having a daughter and being best friends with her, hanging out, and baking cookies. In my dreams I was "Martha Stewart" and she was a cute blond with curls (I got her right on).

For example, swimming, gymnastics, parks, walks, educational activities, play dough, bubbles, playing house, reading books, running, screaming, dancing, eating Popsicles, making cookies, getting dirty, and painting our nails. Lately one of her favorite books is EVERYONE POOPS. She's obsessed with it.

Sometimes these play times are as I imagined, and sometimes they go the opposite. Here's a great example:
SWIM: Our class is in Bellevue with moms that pull up in Mercedes mini-vans and snooty looks on their faces. On the other hand, I come rushing in with sweats on, my hair pulled back and oily/frizzy from not washing it that day, no makeup and possibly food stains and/or oatmeal in my hair and Lyla's hair. (Don't judge)
We rush to get undressed, put on the appropriate swim diaper, swim caps and head to class. You see, the instructors are very strict with wearing proper poop protecting clothing. Their biggest fear is that a child will poop in the pool and shut down water babies for a day, this would be the end of the world! They are also strict on swim caps, they do not want dreadlocks of hair swishing around in the heated Bellevue pool. This too would end the world.
We proceed to sit listen and wait and then enter the pool. Lyla holds on to me for dear life. She loves the water but she loves me more...therefore she would rather kiss and rub her mom than float on her back with her ears in the water.
A couple of Mondays ago we were singing and swimming in a circles as instructed.
Lyla joyfully announced "POOP" at the top of her lungs.
I'm not joking, I think every mom turned to give me the look of death.
What? Your baby doesn't poop?

Okay, Okay... I took her out of the water while she continued to say "Momma... POOP...mom, POOP...pooppoopooppooooop".

As I gracefully took her out of the pool I felt warmth down my leg. I checked her diaper and it was clear. Ohhh... it was PEE! Lyla had to pee.
She thinks the words are interchangeable.
I peeked in her diaper and it was clear.
We re-entered the pool and the teacher quickly said "Did you get everything taken care of?" I happily replied yes and explained that she did not need to POOP.
Lyla chirped in and said
"No mom, POOP! poopooop!" She then patted her butt.

I smiled. Reassured the teacher, and returned to class as the poop outcast.
She then ripped off her swim cap and threw it in the water. What a rebel!
It makes me smile.
She is a crack-up!
EVERYONE Poops!

Just a rough patch along the way...

A lot can change in a day.
You can be healthy and then get sick, really sick.
Life can whiz by your eyes.
Looming thoughts enter your mind as your family's future whirls through your mind.
Depressing?
Yeah it is... but it's a reality.
My sweet dear hubby recently got sick with what we thought was the flu and it wasn't.

ACUTE PANCREATITIS
Yeah! What the heck?
It made us think long and hard...
Will he ever be able to eat fun fattening food again?
Can he have a beer?
Can he work out?
Can he work?
Will the pain be life long?
When will he get better? Will he ever be better?
Did I say can he have wine?
Can we go to happy hour with cheese, crackers and Syrah?
No...No...No...
With Pancreatitis you can't do these things.
Luckily we saw a specialist yesterday and he thinks it was a VIRUS.
VIRAL ACUTE PANCREATITIS
That means it will go away (hopefully).
Now he can slowly add some fat back in to his diet in small amounts.
No beer, wine or pizza yet and a break from working out.
We'll take it day by day and PRAY.

To top it off, Lyla and I got the stomach flu... top  to bottom (no pun intended).
No Easter for us.
We stayed at home in PJ's and watched Lilo and Stitch and Lion King.
We had our family time, the three of us.
Saltines, 7-Up and movies.
We prayed, and we had our own Easter day.
Positive thoughts for the future!

P.S.  Times like this make me think about having another baby just to make my little family bigger.
Did I just say that?

Crafts

Valentine's Day entryway
Just a few things I made in February (late entry!)

The plaque: I bought a piece of wood, pained it red, used my new Silhouette and printed out the word love with a heart out of vinyl, top coated it with a shine spray! Perfect little love treat for the entry way!

The frame:   was purchased from Ben Franklin. It was a cardboard frame, blank with no details. I picked out paper, painted half of it and modge podged it. Then I printed out the words in vinyl and applied it, lastly I touched it up with ribbon and a little heart trinket! The frame is resting atop my late Grandmother's crocheted doily.  So beautiful!

So easy and done in less than an hour! I loved the entry way for Feb. Now I need to think Spring and get some Easter colors going!
Happy Crafting!

The airport view

Isn't it crazy how there are so many people in this world with so many stories? We all have our own paths that we have created.

As I sit here in the San Francisco airport while I'm waiting for my delayed flight I've pondered many things.
Each person that walks past me (about 20-30 right now) has their own story. We are like little turtles just flowing through the airport. They may have a family that they are flying home to, or not. They may be single or married, or having an affair. Each person, so different and no one person is the same. Our skin, our hair, our religion, it's all so remarkably different.  Even if two identical twins walked by me (haven't seen that yet) they would each have their own story. I wish I could just sit in a booth and listen to their stories of travel, life, adventure, sorry, triumph, and love. I think we can all learn so much from one another.

When I was picking up my bag at the airport upon arrival there was a woman. She was quietly walking down the path pulling her bag. She had short blonde hair with glasses. She was wearing jeans and a sweater with a purse on her shoulder.  Her face was subdued. I didn't think much of the situation, or her for that matter. Then it happened. Two kids came running around the corner yelling "MOMMY MOMMY!" They were running so fast that their blond hair was flowing in the back. The dad (or so I assume) trailed behind with a smile on his face. Next thing, the mom wrapped the kids up in her arms and hugged them. Oh... I bet those hugs felt so good. So reassuring, so comforting, and just like love in a squeeze. In my head, that was the perfect end to her day.
I can't wait to come home and get my love in a squeeze! Yay! I even let a few tears slide down my face when I witnessed this public display of homecoming.

I think it's great to meet new people, hear their stories, and learn from them. That's part of the reason I type on this silly little blog of mine. I always hope that people can learn from my mistakes/triumphs/journeys. Or just enjoy a little bit of my life. It's such a big world out there!

I hope my flight isn't too delayed because I'm really having withdrawals from my family.

What I'm looking forward to?
  • Jason and his kindness and everlasting support.
  • Lyla's bouncing curls, kisses and hugs.
  • Rosies purring.
  • My big white comfy bed.
  • Wine at night with my hubby before bed.
  • My routine.
  • My job! I love it!
  • Exercising, and especially my Jillian Michael's videos.
  • Trying to exercise more and get fit for Hawaii.
  • Studying for my boards, finishing them, and PASSING them!
  • My life that I have created. It's great.
